Hair colouring, or hair dyeing, is the practice of changing the hair colour. The main reasons for this are cosmetic: to cover gray or white hair, to change to a colour regarded as more fashionable or desirable, to restore the original hair colour after it has been discoloured by hairdressing processes or sun bleaching.
Hair is made of keratin, just like your skin. But whereas hair simply takes the damage caused by hair dye and hair colouring chemicals which are actually harsh on them. Some people may experience allergic reactions when dye comes into contact with their skin.
Thus, all of us are comfortable to apply chemical-based hair dye/ hair colouring products. No matter how much the hairdresser tries to convince us about zero damage in colouring hair, not all of us feel confident enough to give it a try, not even on a few strands. For such people, who are much concerned about hair care, here are few basic tips to colour hair at home using absolutely natural ingredients alone.
Beetroot and carrot : Take a medium sized beetroot, and 2 carrots and make a thick paste. Apply it to all over your hair using a brush. Leave it for 30 minutes, use a blow dryer on your hair or step out in sun for 30 minutes to let it dry. Rinse it off with shampoo followed by a conditioner. This will give you a red-haired look. Use colour protection shampoos for long lasting effects.
Coffee : Prepare a decoction of your coffee. Brew one tablespoon of coffee for 30 minutes. Let the water reduce by about a third and after that allow it to cool down. Filter the brew and keep it aside. Shampoo your tresses, followed by a good conditioning. Pour the brew through your damp hair. Repeat this twice a week for a good shade.
Henna: Henna is an old way to cover greys. It is also one of the best natural ingredients to colour hair, thanks for its extremely pigmented quality. It not only colours hair, it also has the properties to condition and nourish hair. Moreover the colour lasts for about a month. Take half a cup of henna and mix in half a cup of water.
