A jock itch can be annoying to the core with all the itching and the accompanying burning sensation. Jock itch usually begins with a reddened area of skin that spreads out from the crease in the groin in a half-moon shape onto the upper thigh. Jock itch, medically known as tinea cruris, is a stinging rash that appears in the groin area. It can spread to the buttocks and inner thighs if left untreated. Though it mostly affects men, women are not immune to this annoying problem. Let us see at how this can be treated effectively with home remedies.

Before that, here are few things which we should take care for avoiding jocky itch. Have a look at them. 

1.    Avoid using tight, non-skin friendly underwear. Always prefer cotton than other synthetic materials like lycra.

2.    Don’t ignore fungal infections mainly ringworm and consult a physician if the symptoms persist. 

3.    Avoid Skin friction in the thigh and groin area and use a branded prickly heat powder particularly during summer. It will also control building up of sweat and warmth in the groin

4.    Avoid wearing tight jeans and pants which may leave your skin uncomfortable leaving yourself in jock itch.

Coconut Oil

You Will Need

Organic coconut oil

Apply a few drops of Organic coconut oil on the rash and leave it on overnight. Repeat this until the affected area heals completely. Coconut has natural properties that soothe the rash and block moisture. Also, it also makes the skin smooth and less prone to jock itch in the future.

 Onion

Onion is well known for its anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties. Take a medium sized onion, grate and squeeze firmly to extract its juice. Now, take a cotton pad and soak in the juice and place it on the affected area. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes and then wash it off with luke warm water and pat dry the affected area . Do this twice a day for a week and repeat for one more week if necessary.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is a natural antimicrobial agent. Take 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon water and apply it on the affected area with the cotton ball and leave it for 4-5 minutes and then wash it off and  Pat dry. Do this twice a day for a week for best results. Since, lemon juice contains citric acid, it will sting a little.

 Listerine 

Take Listerine mouthwash and dab some of the mouthwash on the cotton and apply on the affected area. Leave it for 3-5 minutes and then wash off and pat the skin dry. The antiseptic and antifungal properties of Listerine help to cure this jock itch. Do this twice a day.

 Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is known for its natural soothing and non-acidic qualities. Take a fresh aloe leaf and cut open the leaf to extract the gel present inside.Apply fresh aloe gel on it and leave it on. Apply aloe gel 2-3 times a day.

Garlic And Honey

Garlic has strong antifungal properties, and honey is a natural remedy that can soothe and soften the skin . Take 2 garlic cloves and crush the garlic and mix it with the honey. Apply this on the jock itch and leave  it on for 15-20 minutes. Then rinse it off with luke warm water and pat the skin dry.Do this twice a day.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Take 1 teaspoon hydrogen peroxide and dilute it with 1 teaspoon water. Apply this on the affected area with the cotton. It will produce a stinging sensation.Apply petroleum jelly on top and leave it on overnight. Repeat this every night before going to bed.

Caution :

Hydrogen peroxide is an effective antifungal agent, but be prepared for the stinging sensation if you decide to try this remedy

Cornstarch

Sprinkle some cornstarch on the rash and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Then wash it off with water. Repeat this a few times during the day. Corn Starch suits sensitive skin and easily absorbs the excess moisture from the skin. This remedy will help to keep the affected area dry and reduce the itching

Baking Soda

Baking soda has antifungal properties deal with the infection effectively Take 2 tablespoons of baking soda and make a thick paste with the baking soda and water and apply it on the rash. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and wash it off and pat the skin dry. Do this twice a day.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar has natural drying and antifungal qualities Take ½ cup of apple cider vinegar  and dilute the vinegar in 2 cups water  and lightly warm it up. Dip the washcloth in this and place it on the affected area for 5-10 minutes. Remove the washcloth and pat the skin dry. Repeat this 2-3 times in a day.
